This image was taken in the summer of 1988 in Central Australia. I was touring around on a mountain bike and travelling very light in the camera department. My kit consisted of a trusty old Pentax MX with one zoom lens, a mini tripod, and handful of Kodachrome 64! I'd been sitting on a dune watching a storm build up over Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) late in the afternoon and was treated to a completely awesome display as the storm broke just on sunset over the Olgas, columns of 'pink' rain began falling! At the time I was very frugal with film and only took two shots - one at 200mm (this one) and one at 28mm! I can't even imagine how many shots I'd take if it were today... but I guess this is part of the appeal of this image - the emphasis remained on the experience, not photography. I stayed out on the dune as the storm passed over - cooling rain at the end of a summer's day in central Australia, awesome! -------------------------- Taken: 1988 Camera: Pentax MX Lens: 28-200 Settings: ISO 80 Film: Kodachrome 64 Notes: Tripod
